STEP-BY-STEP EMAIL GUIDES
SETTING UP A NEW EMAIL ACCOUNT

To add a new mail account take the following steps
- Open up OE.
- Move to the Tools drop down menu and select Accounts.
- On the right side of the box select Add and then Mail.
- In the Display name box, enter your name as you would like it to be displayed when people receive a message from you, and click Next.
- In the e-mail address box, enter the e-mail address for this account and click Next.
- Ensure that POP3 is selected in the "My incoming mail server is a" box then enter your server names in the boxes provided. Your incoming server name will start with "mail" (as above) and the rest will be your domain name i.e. mail.yourdomain.co.uk (note that domain names do not begin with www). Your outgoing server will be that of your ISP (ask them for the "smtp settings", or look at the 'Properties' of an existing e-mail account to find out what this is).
- Enter the Account name and Password for this email account. Use the full email address as the Account name. Your password will have been set for you by Dorset Web (as above).
- Click "Finish."
- That's it! Close your account settings and test out your new address by sending a message to it. If you're able to send a message, and receive that same message in your new account, then you have successfully set-up your first email account on our servers.
You can configure as many email accounts as your like in Outlook Express using the same above process.
TO EDIT AN EXISTING ACCOUNT
Go through numbers 1 & 2 above, but instead of creating a new account simply highlight the account you want to edit and choose 'Properties' and then 'General', 'Servers' etc until you see the bit you want to edit.
TO ADD A SIGNATURE
- Choose Tools > Options > Signatures.
- Click on 'New' and follow the instructions. You can Copy and Paste any message you want to in here.
- Tick on the "Apply signatures to all outgoing messages" option.
- Click on 'Apply' and 'OK.
- You're done!
TO STOP OE BLOCKING ATTACHMENTS
- Choose Tools > Options > Security.
- Uncheck the box that mentions not running unsafe attachments.
- Click 'Apply' and 'OK'.
- You're done!
